AI and Behaviors
This document outlines the behavior and AI system. The system focuses on tasks that players can assign to champions to develop their behaviors and skills. It also details how interactions among champions influence their performance in combat and exploration, as well as the interface for managing these behaviors and skills.
Champion Behavior and AI
1. Champion Tasks and Skill Growth
Players can assign a variety of tasks to champions to help them grow their behaviors and skills. These tasks are divided into categories, each influencing different aspects of a champion's development:
Combat Training: Enhances combat skills, such as strength, agility, and endurance.
Exploration Training: Improves exploration abilities, such as perception, stealth, and navigation.
Social Interactions: Reduces shyness and improves social behaviors, such as charisma and teamwork.
Learning and Study: Increases intelligence and strategic thinking.
Hobbies and Relaxation: Boosts overall well-being and reduces stress.
2. Interaction-Based Behavior System
Champions' behaviors are influenced by their interactions with each other. Some champions may perform poorly around others due to inherent shyness or lack of social skills. The behavior system includes:
Shyness and Social Skills: Champions with low social skills perform worse in group settings. Players can assign social interaction tasks to reduce shyness and improve their social skills.
Mentorship and Group Activities: Certain activities can be performed with other champions, allowing more experienced or sociable champions to mentor others, aiding in their personality and skill growth.
3. Behavioral Tracks and Goals
The champion behavior screen allows players to set goals for their champions' development. Behavioral tracks are displayed, showing the progress of various attributes. These tracks include:
Combat Proficiency: Tracks progress in combat skills.
Exploration Aptitude: Tracks progress in exploration skills.
Social Competence: Tracks progress in social behaviors.
Intellectual Growth: Tracks progress in intelligence and strategic thinking.
Well-Being: Tracks overall health and stress levels.
Players can set specific goals for how they would like their champions to perform in each category. For example, a player may prioritize reducing shyness for a champion to improve teamwork in combat scenarios.
4. Strategic Trade-Offs
Not all behavior increases are advantageous. Players need to carefully balance the development of behaviors and skills to optimize their champions. Some trade-offs include:
Specialization vs. Versatility: Focusing too much on one skill may lead to a lack of versatility.
Combat Efficiency vs. Social Skills: A champion who excels in combat but lacks social skills may struggle in team-based missions.
Intellectual Growth vs. Physical Training: Champions may need to balance mental and physical development to perform well in various scenarios.
