Map and Formation
Formation and Map System
Map Layout
The game map consists of a 36 hex grid.
Each player has their own side of the map, which is a 12 hex area where they can place their champions.
There exists a neutral area in the center, spanning 12 hexes, where most battles will occur.
Champion Placement
Players strategically position their champions within their designated 12 hex area.
The goal is to optimize their formation for battle.
Champions can be placed anywhere within this area, but there are limitations imposed by objects on the grid.
Champions can be replaced or selected from library of champions from UI (Add search fields for specific times as champion library will grow.
Objects on the Grid
Obstacles:
These are scattered across the map.
Obstacles block champion movement and placement.
LoS (Line of Sight) can be broken by some obstacles.
Players must plan around them to create effective formations.
In some rare cases, obstacles are targetable by the champions. (e.g., a totem on both teams side as an additional map objective. If player champion reach's it, they can damage it to destroy it. Destroying it may create new gameplay benefits such as offering a teamwide buff, removing a buff from the enemy, or creating new units on the field.)
Beneficial Spots:
Certain grid cells offer advantages to champions.
For example:
Healing Pools: Champions placed here gradually regenerate health.
High Ground: Champions on elevated spots gain attack or defense bonuses.
Energy Crystals: Champions that move over these build their special ability meter..
Strategic Zones:
Some areas affect champions’ abilities:
Fog: Conceals champions, making them harder to target.
River: Slows movement but boosts water-based attacks.
Protective Glyph: Enhances defense for champions within.
Placement Restrictions:
Champions cannot be placed in the neutral area.
Obstacles and beneficial spots influence where champions can stand.
